In this episode, host Derek Rader sits down with Nicole Klimas-Morrison to explore the realities of teen mental health and what may be happening beneath the surface of behaviors often dismissed as: just being a teenager.”

A slammed door. Raised voices. Silence after an argument. These moments can leave families feeling frustrated, disconnected, and unsure of what to do next. But what if those reactions are actually signs that a teen is struggling to communicate stress, anxiety, pressure, or emotional overwhelm? Derek and Nicole unpack the emotional ups and downs that often come with the teen years, while discussing how trusted adults can better recognize warning signs, create open conversations, and support adolescents through difficult moments.

Their conversation offers meaningful insight for parents, caregivers, educators, and anyone who works with teens, helping us better understand mental health during the teen years and why connection and communication matter.
