OhioGuidestone joins Apex Skin on Fox 8’s New Day Cleveland

Dr. Julia Bruner, OhioGuidestone’s Chief Medical Officer, discussed the impact acne can have on mental health and adolescent behavior alongside Apex Skin with Fox 8 News on New Day Cleveland.

Acne affects 50 million Americans annually, triggering scarring, skin pigment changes and low self-esteem. Feeling self-conscious is very common for teens; and when combined with a skin condition, can lead to reduced self-esteem and exacerbate other behavioral health conditions.

For Acne Awareness Month, Apex donated 5% of proceeds from every acne kit sold in June to OhioGuidestone in support of our mental health initiatives.

As the state’s leader in community behavioral health, OhioGuidestone is deeply invested in youth mental health outcomes. We’re expanding walk-in care for mental health and substance use. In fact, we are opening one of the first specialized youth behavioral health urgent care centers in the Ohio, right in Lorain County. This is in addition to several walk-in clinics and urgent care locations across our agency that serve the entire lifespan.
