Stillwater Crossing Ribbon Cutting

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 8/22/2024

(Dennison, OH) – The Alcohol, Drug Addiction, Mental Health Services (ADAMHS) Board of Tuscarawas and Carroll Counties and OhioGuidestone invited the community to an open house and ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, August 22.

The event celebrated the completion of Stillwater Crossing, a men’s substance use residential treatment center located at 700 Dudgeon Way, Dennison. After the ribbon cutting ceremony, guests had the opportunity to tour the facility, learn more about the services, and enjoy light refreshments until the conclusion of the event at 5 pm.

The first non-profit facility of its kind in Tuscarawas and Carroll Counties, Stillwater Crossing will provide evidence-based treatment services to help local men move from addiction to recovery.

The 7900 square foot building is made possible through a funding partnership between the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, ARPA funding awarded by the Tuscarawas County Commissioners, local ADAMHS funds, and donations from community partners. Stillwater Crossing, a 2.7 million dollar facility, has capacity to serve 16 men at a time. At the end of the residential treatment program, individuals will transition to local services and supports to help maintain progress.

Pam Trimmer, Vice President of Operations at Ohio Guidestone, explained, “We would like to thank the ADAMHS Board of Tuscarawas and Carroll Counties and the Ohio Dept. of Mental Health and Addiction Services for their support of this much needed project.  The goal of OhioGuidestone within this project is to ensure that we are providing high quality person-centered substance use services to those living in our communities to reduce barriers to care and provide a seamless transition to after care services to support long term recovery.  It is our philosophy of care to provide evidence- based whole person care to ensure we are addressing all substance use treatment needs along with mitigating social determinants of health, and health and mental health concerns.”

“This is an effort that has taken us over a decade,” reported Natalie Bollon, Executive Director at the ADAMHS Board. “To have the end in sight and knowing that the hard work will mean a local treatment option for men is incredible.” Bollon also noted, “There has been a commitment from the ADAMHS Board of Directors; ADAMHS Special Projects Manager, Mike Dotts; OhioGuidestone Administrator Pam Trimmer; and Dennison Mayor Greg DiDonato to see this project move from concept to completion. This would not have been possible without their perseverance and commitment.”

Pending completion of the state certification process, the facility is scheduled to open in September.

The community is encouraged to tour the facility on the 22nd, learn more about services, and enjoy light refreshments, until the conclusion of the event at 5 pm.
